PAM: Physical Agent Modalities CERTIFICATION for Occupational Therapists California OT Board certification number: 10-P3 for 44 hours
California Education Connection offers this convenient, fully online PAM course that is taken online, ANYTIME! The course includes full educational didactic training of 36 hours followed by a self-guided 8-hour LAB for hands-on demonstration and practicum. This course offers a total of 44 contact hours / .44 CEUs by the AOTA and California Consumer Affairs Board of OT. Please note: some States may require additional compulsory items and activities specific to your licensing agency requirements. EXAMPLE: California requires an ADDITIONAL amount of in-clinic supervision by an already PAM certified OT supervisor. Please check with your individual licensing State's Board for all requirements.
Start by taking the 10-Module online didactic courses at your own pace. Each learning module is completed with a quiz which you must pass with a minimum of %75 before proceeding to the next Module. Once you have completed all online Modules you may then take the 8-hour live LAB. PAM certification is for OTs ONLY.

- understand each modalities' physiologic interactions, limitations, benefits, safety precautions, and contraindications.
- how to select the appropriate modality for desired patient response

NOTE: LAB: The Lab portion the PAM Certification is a self-directed hands-on practicum that you complete in your own clinical setting and under the supervision of a PAM Certified OT or PT where they observe, sign off and witness your clinical experience covering heat/cold applications, contrast baths, paraffin, diathermy, ultrasound, laser and light therapy, TENs, EMS, and iontophoresis. (based on equipment availability and or state limitations). You must compete the required hours per your states requirements. Once completed, you then sign the attestation form attached to your syllabus, and fax in along with the signed off hours for your full PAM certification.
