Cindy Bailey PT, MS, DPT, ATC, EMT, OCS, SCS received her Physical Therapy Degree and a Masters degree in Secondary Education from the University of Utah in 1983 & 1985. She has been an EMT since 1982, and an ATC since 1983. Cindy's education includes the Kaiser Permanente Orthopaedic Fellowship-Residency Program in 1992 as well as completing the Advanced Post Professional Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at USC in 2002. She became an APTA Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist in 1993 and a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist in 1994. Dr. Bailey also completed a Fellowship in Medical Education Teaching & Learning.
Faculty appointments have included Pepperdine University Certified Athletic Training program, Mt. Saint Mary's Masters level PT program, Santa Monica College, the above Kaiser Orthopaedic Residency program since 1993, Associate Professor of Clinical Education in the Department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at USC. Cindy has worked in elite level athletics, collegiate, professional & Olympic since 1985. Her current working environment is as the director of Physical Therapy at Orthopaedic Hospital & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Specialists. In addition, Cindy is in private practice, is the ATC for the USC’s ice hockey team, administers an ATC high school outreach program, and lectures on various athletic and orthopaedic topics including orthopaedic intervention in patients with hemophilia. Cindy is a member of the APTA, the NATA and is a Certified Kinesiotaping Instructor. |

Stacy Barrows PT, CFP is a physical therapist and Guild certified Feldenkrais® practitioner. She co-owns a private practice in Century City, California (Century City PT).Stacy has an extensive background with the foam rollers in the clinical setting, with sport enhancement and youth education and was one of the first to teach health and fitness professionals about their benefits and practical applications. Stacy is the inventor of the Smartroller™, a foam roller product that she developed that allows more people to benefit from using foam rollers. She has written articles on the foam roller for sport and therapeutic magazines and she has co-authored research on the Feldenkrais® Method that received a research award from Mt. Marie-José Blom has been combining Pilates technique and dance medicine for well over twenty years. Alan Herdman, a leading Pilates master in London, England, mainly influenced her teaching methodology and style. Marie-José's mission statement is "the implementation of movement sciences elevating Pilates into the twenty-first century."
Marie-José Blom pioneered and founded her comprehensive Teacher Training courses as a master teacher in 1991 at Long Beach Dance Conditioning. These courses have enjoyed national and international acclaim for their content and presentation. She remains committed to research and continuing education in her specialty subjects of pelvic and lumbar stability and movement techniques. Sherry Brourman authored the book Walk Yourself Well in 1998 as the culmination of twenty five years as a Physical Therapist, a severe back patient and a lifelong athlete. Now a PT for thirty five years and a Yoga Teacher, recognized by Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500, she is also a yoga teacher trainer, teaching Functional Anatomy for Exhale, Yogaworks, and Loyola Marymount University ’s Yoga Therapy Certification Program.

Wendy S. Burke, PT, MS, DPT, OCS received her physical therapy degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984, and Advanced Masters Degree in 2000 from USC. She became Board Certified in Orthopaedics in 1993 after completing the Orthopaedic Fellowship Residency Program at Kaiser Permanente- Los Angeles in 1993. She recently completed her Post-professional Doctorate from the Department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at USC with her research on shoulder dysfunction.
In addition, Wendy completed several year-long manual therapy programs. One by Joe Godges (1992) a second program by Dennis Dempsey and Wayne Diamond that is Maitland -based (1993), a year long fellowship program in Arthritis presented by Rancho Los Amigos (1986), and the PNF Program at Kaiser Permanente-Vallejo in 1991. She has assisted Richard Jackson with seminars on the pelvic girdle, lower kinetic chain biomechanics and its relationship to gait, as well as back evaluation. Dr. Burke completed a Fellowship in Medical Education Teaching & Learning in 2002. She has been guest lecturer at University of Southern California, Loma Linda University, and the Professional Baseball Trainers Association.
Wendy is a clinical faculty member at the USC Department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. In addition to patient care, she works closely with the physicians as a team member of the Shoulder Clinic at the USC Department of Orthopaedics, and as staff for the USC Center for Athletic Medicine. Wendy is a Member of the APTA, American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists, and is a Certified Kinesiotaping Instructor.

Michelle H. Cameron, M.D, P.T., O.C.S. is a practicing physician and a physical therapy clinician, educator, researcher and author. She is also the owner of Health Potentials, a health education and consulting company. She wrote the textbook, Physical Agents in Rehabilitation: From Research to Practice, published by W.B. Saunders. This book is now in its second edition and is used by over 70% of physical therapy programs across the United States. Her research on phonophoresis is published in the Physical Therapy Journal and in Clinical Management magazine and earned her the California APTA Clinician Research Award. He received his bachelors in Physical Education from Cal State University Dominguez Hills and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Chapman University. Clare received her physical therapy degree from Northern Illinois University. She also the completed the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Residency program in 1993 while working on her Masters of Science degree in biokinesiology & physical therapy at University of Southern California. Clare recently received her post-professional doctoral degree from Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, California.
Clare studied extensively with Professor Vladimir Janda both in the United States and the Czech Republic. Dr. Janda was a well-renowned neurologist/physiatrist and researcher in the area of functional rehabilitation and manual medicine particularly in the area of chronic low back pain. She assisted and taught with him until his passing away in 2002. Clare is currently practicing as an orthopedic clinical specialist at a private practice in Los Angeles, California. She has also been instrumental in setting up the Movement Science Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente, the first such fellowship program to be credentialed by the APTA. Roger is currently Co-Director of Teacher Training at Core Conditioning in Studio City, CA. He began studying Pilates with Romana Kryzanowsca in 1995 and continues his studies with Jay Grimes. Kitsum Li, OTD, OTR/L, received her first degree in Occupational Therapy from Hong Kong in 1986, and her advanced OTD degree from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2005. For the past 15 years, she has been working in a variety of community and home-based programs. Being a strong supporter of evidence-based practice, she firmly believes that this is an exciting time for all practicing healthcare professionals to excel their practices, through the best evidence available, for the benefit of the care of their individual patients. Kitsum has been actively involved in the implementation of the “integrated fall prevention” program in both homecare and hospital settings. Dr. Powers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy, and Director of the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory at USC. He also has joint appointments in the Departments of Radiology and Orthopaedic Surgery within the Keck School of Medicine. His primary teaching responsibilities include the areas of biomechanics and the mechanics of human gait. He received a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1984, his Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Columbia University in 1987, and a Ph.D. in Biokinesiology in 1996 from USC. Dr. Powers did his post-doctoral training at the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory, University of California, Irvine. Dr. Powers primary research interests are concerned with the kinematic, kinetic and muscular actions associated with human movement, the pathomechanics of orthopedic disabilities, and issues related to rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system. He has published 57 peer-reviewed articles and over 100 abstracts and has received several research awards from the APTA, including the Rose Excellence in Research Award from the Orthopaedic Section, the Eugene Michels New Investigator Award, and the Dorothy Briggs Scientific Inquiry Award. Ronna H. Semonian P.T. received her degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma Washington in 1986. Ronna was the Director of Physical Therapy at the Aztec Sports Medicine Center, San Diego State University from 1989 - 1991. In 1991, she received her Athletic Trainer Certificate (AT,C) and became the 375th Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association in 1992. Juan Carlos Santana received his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Exercise Science from Florida Atlantic University. He is currently pursuing his doctoral work at the University of Miami's Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences.
Carlos is the director and CEO of the Institute of Human Performance in Boca Raton Florida. His training methodologies have been successfully applied to the full spectrum of the population; youth, geriatrics, rehabilitation and elite athletes. Carlos has authored numerous articles, books and videos, on various topics involving optimum physical performance. His energetic approach to life and advanced knowledge of conditioning have made him a sought after international speaker and consultant. Carlos currently consults for various governmental agencies, educational institutions, college and professional teams and equipment manufactures.
Carlos’s professional responsibilities have included serving as the Chairman of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Sport Specific Conference, the NSCA Florida State Director and as a member of the NSCA Conference Committee. Risa Sheppard Creator of the Sheppard Method has been a pioneer in the body/mind fitness field since 1975. Risa studied and worked with Ron Fletcher in the 70’s. She was one of the first trainers to teach The Pilates Method. She received her BA degree from UCLA while working at the Neuropsychiatric Institute teaching creative movement to autistic children. Risa is a prolific writer on physical fitness. Risa invented the “Wheel of Fitness” and has appeared on HSN. Gabrielle Shrier graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology from UCLA and holds a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from USC. She is PMA gold certified in Pilates and certified in Gyrotonic®. Gabrielle has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1994 and has specialized in the areas of neurologic disorders, orthopoedics and woman's health. She is an active member of the APTA. She is NDT certified and has completed a comprehensive course in the Australian approach of manual therapy. She has developed and continues to teach educational programs for health care professionals, integrating Pilates and rehabilitation, both nationally and internationally. She currently teaches a comprehensive teacher training program as a faculty member for Balanced Body University under the tutelage of Nora St. John. She has been co-owner of Core Conditioning since its inception in 2003. |
