Course Description

For Your Patients Who Play Golf (Part 1 & 2)

Day 1: Course Description
Knowing how the body moves and what physical characteristics are required to complete the golf swing are crucial to understand before we can succeed in returning our patients back to the links. This course will cover the basic terminology of golf and the golf swing while answering many questions including: How can a hypomobile planter-flexed first ray cause a Reverse Pivot and how limited C1-C2 rotation will likely result in an outside – inside swing plane? Course participants will learn and practice new tools that will enable them to return their patients back to playing the game of golf.

Day 1: Objectives
The attendee will:

    1. Broaden the student’s knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and biomechanics as it relates to the golf swing.
    2. The student will learn the physical requirements and potential limitations that affect the golf swing.
    3. Promote a team approach (golf pro, teaching pro, physical therapist/athletic trainer, chiropractor, physician, personal trainer).
    4. Learn how common golf injuries can occur and how they affect a person’s golf game.
    5. Enhance a student’s implementation and mastery of various clinical treatment techniques.
    6. Enhance the student’s critical thinking when reading golf articles and assessing new products.
    7. Have Fun

Day 2: Course Description
Most golfers will say that “consistency”, lack of or having too much with poor outcomes, is the main problem with their games. The Physical Attribute Recognition System (PAR’s) will help determine whether our consistency problems are the result of physical limitations or mental barriers. An Individual Golf Fitness Program will be discussed so you can improve your weaknesses while not giving up on your strengths. Course participants will learn and practice new tools that will enable them to enhance their game while returning their patients to the game we all have learned to love and sometimes hate. This course is a continuum from part 1 or for healthcare practitioners who are golfers that have a basic understanding of the biomechanics of the golf swing.

Day 2: Objectives
The attendee will:

  1. The student will learn the physical requirements and potential limitations that affect the golf swing.
  2. Enhance the student’s performance and longevity with their individual golf games.
  3. Understand the principles of exercise and how they relate to the golf swing.
  4. Students will be able to develop a new or enhance an existing exercise program by testing for and implementing an individualized golf fitness program.
  5. Understand the importance of proper foot mechanics and the utilization of golf orthotics to enhance the golf swing.
  6. Enhance a student’s implementation and mastery of various clinical treatment techniques.
  7. Have Fun.
