Description
Module 3 explores BPPV extensively in terms of pathophysiology, clinical presentations and diagnosis, and treatment strategies for posterior, horizontal and anterior canal types. Additionally, treatment modifications strategies for special needs patients are explored (age-related degenerative changes in the neck, orthopedic limitations, etc). This module also covers the exact purpose of computerized inner ear diagnostic tests and how they should apply to clinical treatment of vestibular and balance disorders, a “must” for any clinician.
Course Topics
BPPV on-line lab: clinical evaluation and treatment for all types of BPPV – training videos, modification of techniques, clinical tips, guides and interpretation to ALL types of BPPV: anterior canal, posterior canal, horizontal canal.
The Epley maneuver and beyond; Brand-Daroff, BBQ roll, and other treatment techniques explored.
Vertebral-basilar artery Insufficiency (VBI): how to safely evaluate.
Orthostatic hypotension: clinical signs and symptoms. How to test and differentiating from other symptomology.
Treating difficult BPPV cases & troubleshooting guide
Vestibular diagnostics; strengths and weakness, clinical interpretation, understanding and utilizing all types of vestibular testing information.
Why diagnostics are so important to determine if the cause is vestibular, CNS or both???
There is no “gold standard” in testing! A somewhat controversial topic.
“What is?” and “What isn’t?” a diagnostic test; the difference of inner ear testing and posturography.
Basic posturography explained – what do the different test stages means, what do they actually test, and how to use their information clinically for improved treatment planning.
