Course Description

This one-day course on laser and light applications in rehabilitation combines lectures, hands-on lab experiences, and problem-solving patient cases to teach you to use these new and exciting modalities safely and effectively in your clinical practice. This course reviews the physical and physiological principles underlying application of lasers and light, and the research evidence evaluating their effects, to give you a thorough understanding of these modalities and the confidence to use them in your practice to optimize patient outcomes.

Objectives
  1. Understand the basic parameters used to quantify therapeutic lasers and light.
  2. Understand how lasers and light produce their therapeutic effects
  3. Be familiar with the research supporting the effectiveness of laser and light therapy
  4. Be able to select safe and effective laser and light parameters to treat a range of pathologies including: carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, arthritis and radicular pain
  5. Be able to safely and effectively apply laser and light therapy to optimize clinical outcomes

Speaker

Michelle H. Cameron, M.D, P.T., O.C.S. is a practicing physician and a physical therapy clinician, educator, researcher and author. She is also the owner of Health Potentials, a health education and consulting company. She wrote the textbook, Physical Agents in Rehabilitation: From Research to Practice, published by W.B. Saunders. This book is now in its second edition and is used by over 70% of physical therapy programs across the United States. Her research on phonophoresis is published in the Physical Therapy Journal and in Clinical Management magazine and earned her the California APTA Clinician Research Award. Michelle has also written and edited numerous articles on wound management, ultrasound and phonophoresis and she wrote the section on ultrasound in Saunders Manual for Physical Therapy Practice. Michelle’s presentations on ultrasound, electrical stimulation and other thermal and physical agents bring together current research and practice to provide evidence-based decision making and hands-on tools to allow attendees to offer optimal care within today’s health care environment.

A certificate of attendance will be presented to each participant for 6.5 contact hours. The Physical Therapy Board of California recognizes California Education Connection as an Approval Agency to Approve Providers of Continuing Competency Courses in California. This course is approved for 0.65 CEUs / 6.5 Contact Hours for PTs and PTAs in California. California Education Connection is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education for CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINERS. Our BOC approved provider number is P2959. The California Board of Occupational Therapy has approved this course for post professional education in the advanced practice area of physical agent modality. Early Registration Deadline

The Early Registration deadline is three weeks prior to the start of the course. If your registration is received after the deadline, a $25.00 Late Fee will be automatically applied to the registration fee.

For every 5 people that sign up for the same seminar, we will give that group one complimentary spot.

How Do We Sign-Up and Qualify for the Free Spot?

In order to qualify for this discount, we must receive all six completed registration forms with the appropriate payment for the five spots. If you want to mail in the completed forms, you must mail all six forms in the same envelope. If you want to fax in the forms, you must fax all six forms at the same time.

Please note that there will be no exceptions granted. We must receive everything at once in order to process these registration forms under the group discount policy.

Refund and Cancellation Policies

California Education Connection reserves the right to cancel this seminar due to an insufficient number of registrants. Under these circumstances, a full refund in the form of a check will be addressed and mailed to the registered participant. Please note that California Education Connection is not responsible for any hotel, airline or other expenses incurred.

All cancellations by registered participant must be dated and submitted in writing. For cancellations received 14 days or more before the seminar date, the registration fee will be returned less a $50.00 administrative fee. A refund in the form of a check will be mailed to the registered participant.

Within 14 days of the seminar, no refunds will be made. California Education Connection reserves the right to change a course date, location or instructor. If the seminar is either interrupted or cancelled by an act of nature, war, or any issue beyond the control of California Education Connection, no refund will be issued.
