CPR Age Groups For purposes of basic life support skills as taught to lay rescuers, use these definitions:
Infant: birth to 1 year old Child: 1 year old to puberty (age 8 for AED use) Adult: Past puberty (over age 8 for AED use)
Pediatric: Can be used to refer to Infants and Children together.
