The course highlights immediate life-threatening situations, demonstrates how to respond to them quickly and effectively, and offers some perspective about how often these situations occur. Relevant end of chapter scenarios help students prioritize threats and learn how to deal with the unexpected.

Content includes:

The role of the professional rescuer in emergencies
How to prevent transmission of infectious disease
Assessing the victims condition
Basic life support, including rescue breathing, cardiac emergencies and CPR, airway obstruction, and AED
Special resuscitation situations and advanced resuscitation BLS Healthcare and Professional Rescuers meets federal guidelines from the CDC, OSHA, and NFPA

This course meets the requirements set by the Physical Therapy Board of California. PTs and PTAs are required to complete four (4) hours in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals. This CPR class may be included as part of the required 30 hours of continuing competencies. Approved for 4.0 Contact Hours (CEC-C086). This course also satisfies the BOC cardiopulmonary resuscitation requirements for ATCs.
