Founders
Brian D. Chavarin, MS, ATC, CSCS
Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Owner of California Education Connection
Brian
earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Loyola Marymount
University in Los Angeles, and earned his master's degree from the
United States Sports Medicine Academy in Daphne, Alabama, in Sports
Medicine. He worked for the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers as an Assistant
Athletic Trainer and was then recruited to Seton Hall University in
South Orange, New Jersey, as Assistant Athletic Trainer and Head
Strength & Conditioning for SHU's 19 Division I Athletic Teams. Then
he was the Head Athletic Trainer for the International Hockey League's
Los Angeles Ice Dogs before joining USC University Hospital as the
Director of Sports Medicine. After serving 8 years at USCUH he moved
onto to start up the Department of Sports Medicine at St. Vincent
Medical Center. After successfully starting up the department he was
recruited to Brotman Medical Center to start up the Southern California
Spine Institute and was the Director for Rehabilitation Services. Most
recently he worked with with the RehabCare Group in Texas and California
where he returned to St. Vincent Medical Center to open the Acute Rehab
Unit and stayed on to serve as the Program Director until July 2009. He
is currently focus his efforts and energy on California Education
Connection and Consulting for local medical practices and physicians.
Susan Mazmanian, OTR/L
Co-Founder, Consultant to California Education Connection
Susan
received her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Boston University in
1979. She practiced in the areas of hand and rehabilitation in the Los
Angeles area before pursuing her continued career in sales. Susan worked
for Titus, now McKesson HBOC for over 20 years. Recently she joined the
Rajala / Dynatron team. She has lectured on a variety of topics
including modalities, women’s health and therapeutic exercises for both
the physical therapy and occupational therapy communities. She has also
taught at Mount St. Mary’s College. Susan was awarded the 1997 CPSIG
Service Award. Susan is always suggesting innovative ways to enhance
your practice and expand your services with seminars, equipment,
exercise, taping and other ideas.
The Vision
Combined,
Brian and Susan bring over 40 years of professional experience in the
fields of Allied Health and Strength & Conditioning. This combined
experience allowed them to create and conduct innovative continuing
education courses.
Today,
CEC continues with innovative courses that allow the participants to
make a new or renewed connection with knowledge; and the ability to
apply that knowledge within a practice setting to immediately improve
positive outcomes.
